ISTANBUL- Stating that the Rojava Revolution is wanted to be liquidated, DEM Party MP Çiçek Otlu said: "We must organise the united resistance of the peoples against the war in the Middle East. For the unity of the peoples, it is necessary to organise the Turkish working class, women and youth against the war. The subjects of the women's liberation struggle must raise their voices by saying no to the war."
Turkey and its affiliated Syrian National Army (SMO) continue their attacks on Northern and Eastern Syria. While Turkish warplanes targeted Minbic and the surrounding villages, the Syrian Democratic Forces (QSD) announced a ceasefire yesterday. However, dozens of civilians were massacred by the gangs in the attacks that took place before the ceasefire. Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) MP Çiçek Otlu made statements regarding these attacks.
Stating that all Western powers are trying to take a position in a new order in the Middle East, Çiçek Otlu said that the number of NATO member states has increased and Turkey has increased its defence budget. Otlu said, "They have strengthened their relations with NATO more. Everyone wants to gain a place on a map that may change in the Middle East. In this process, Turkey, that is, the fascist regime formed by AKP and MHP, is trying to strengthen its position. They aimed to re-establish the borders of Misak-ı Milli. They wanted to retake Mosul and Kirkuk, but they failed in Kirkuk. They sent messages of reconciliation with Assad. However, Assad declared that he would not allow his lands to be occupied. Israel, who wanted to take advantage of the election uncertainty in the USA, went on the offensive. In this period, the fascist regime of Turkey, AKP and MHP is trying to invade Syria again through HTS, the new name of DAIS, and the Syrian National Army. One of the most important revolutions of the 21st century, the Rojava Revolution, is being liquidated."
‘They want to strangle the four parts of Kurdistan’
Stating that the gains of the Kurdish people and the women's libertarian line are being targeted, Çiçek Otlu emphasised that the AKP and MHP have not achieved either political or military victory since 2015, so they have turned to war policies to consolidate their own base. Çiçek Otlu said, "The occupation of Tel Rifat means the occupation of Rojava. All forces in Northern and Eastern Syria are calling for opposition to this war and have declared mobilisation. Erdoğan has set up a plan to destroy the peoples. Rojava is a revolution where equal and free life has been established and has become an example for the peoples of the world. They think that if this revolution is suppressed, they can suffocate the four parts of Kurdistan. That is why so much support is given to the Syrian National Army and HTS."
‘Women symbolised the breeze of freedom in themselves’
Drawing attention to the targeting of women who lead revolutionary processes by gangs and states, Çiçek Otlu said, "The woman in a flower dress who threw her chador in Rojava is a symbol. The woman in red in the Gezi uprising is a symbol. Women in many parts of the world draw a path for themselves by taking freedom fighters as an example. After the assassination of Jina Mahsa Amini, women symbolised in themselves the breeze of freedom they saw in Rojava. The Rojava Revolution showed us what the women's libertarian line, equal and free life means; how women can take part in social, political and military fields. The slogan ‘Jin, jiyan, azadî’ in Rojava has become universal all over the world, starting from Rojhilat. Every time our voice is too weak, another woman will be murdered. We must turn the resistance into a united struggle, not just an individual struggle."
Call to raise the struggle for peace
Stating that the isolation imposed on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan is a part of the war policies, Çiçek Otlu emphasised that the government wants to prevent Öcalan's words from reaching the people. Çiçek Otlu said, "The government will continue to pursue war politics in this period. Despite all the massacres and arrests, we have not given up saying no to the war and we will be on the streets in the coming period. We must organise the united resistance of the peoples against the war in the Middle East. This is not only a problem of the Kurdish people or the peoples of the Middle East, it is a universal problem. As seen in Palestine and Rojava, organised and resisting peoples cannot be defeated. Therefore, we must be inspired by Rojava, Rojhilat and Palestine. The women's liberation struggle must raise the strongest voice against the war."
