ANKARA - HDP MP  Züleyha Gülüm asked Minister of Justice Abdulhamit Gül about the attacks on women politicians held in Sincan Prison: ‘’Is a new policy of oppression being developed in prisons with misogynist policies by targeting women who are fighting for women’s freedom?’’

Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Istanbul MP Züleyha Gülüm brought the attacks against women politicians held in Sincan Prison to the parliamentary agenda. Züleyha submitted a parliamentary question to the Presidency of the Assembly, asking the Minister of Justice Abdulhamit Gül to answer.

In parliamentary question, it was noted that according to the information conveyed by the former Co-Chair of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Sebahat Tuncel, who is being held in Sincan Prison, through her lawyers, in parallel with the increasing racist attacks, systematic violence has been practiced against women politicians since July 28 and stated that provocation is wanted to create.

In the parliamentary question, it was stated that ‘’The fact that women politicians are taken to the ward by force and violence from airing, and that they are subjected to counting in the form of raids in the morning and evening increases the concerns that a special pressure policy is intended to be carried out in prisons.’’
