Prisoner journalist disciplined 2025-01-17 10:56:04     ISTANBUL - While journalists exiled to Marmara Prison are kept in solitary cells, journalist Gülistan Dursun was given a ‘disciplinary penalty’ for refusing to accept the ‘terrorism card’ issued by the administration.   A demonstration was held on 21 December at Şişhane Square in Beyoğlu, Istanbul for journalists Nazım Daştan and Cihan Bilgin, who were killed in a Turkish drone attack on 19 December while they were following news in Northern and Eastern Syria. Dozens of journalists and human rights defenders who came together to protest the attack on journalists were detained. 7 journalists and 2 citizens were arrested on the allegation of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’.   Women journalists Gülistan Dursun, Etkin News Agency (ETHA) reporter Pınar Gayıp and Mücadele Birliği newspaper reporter Serpil Ünal, who are imprisoned in Bakırköy Women's Closed Prison, were taken out of their wards on 10 January to be taken to infirmary and were exiled to Marmara (Silivri) Closed Prison without informing their families. It is learned that the exiled journalists were kept in cells for three people, one for each of them. It is also learned that a petition was submitted to the prison administration for journalists to stay in the same room.   ‘Terror card’ imposition   Journalist Gülistan Dursun sent a message through her lawyers from Silivri Closed Prison where she is imprisoned. She shared that Gülistan Dursun was given a card called ‘terror card’ by the prison administration, but she refused to accept the card.  Gülistan Dursun shared that she was given a ‘disciplinary punishment’ for not accepting the ‘terror card’.   It is also learned that Gülistan Dursun demanded newspapers for 3 days but they were not given to her.
