Roza Daxistan: Self-defence against the attacks! 2024-12-22 13:18:26        Elfazi Toral   ISTANBUL - Journalist Roza Daxistan pointed out that the people have an unlimited resistance against Turkey's attacks on Rojava and said: ‘There is a women's resistance that continues to write history against the unlimited attacks of the patriarchal mentality. Under the leadership of women's defence units against the invasion attacks, all women are equipped with self-defence and resistance against all kinds of attacks in every field.’   As a new process begins in Syria and Rojava, the balances in the Middle East and Syria are changing rapidly. The attacks of Turkey and its Syrian National Army (SMO) against Northern and Eastern Syria continue. With the declaration of Autonomous Administration in 2014, Rojava became a new role model for all peoples in the Middle East and instilled great hope. However, while this Autonomous Administration has become a target of nation-states, despite all the conflicts and attacks, the people, led by women, are united in the struggle with a spirit of resistance and solidarity.   Journalist Roza Daxistan evaluated the attitude of women and the people in the face of the ongoing war against Northern and Eastern Syria, the atmosphere of resistance, the roadmap of struggle to be followed against the attacks and the developments.    ‘Houses and businesses looted’   Stating that after the defeat of ISIS in 2014, Turkey continued its attacks by directly landing in Syria and Rojava, Roza Daxistan drew attention to the occupation of Girê Spî and Serêkaniyê, especially Efrin, in 2018. Roza Daxistan emphasised that the crisis deepened after the occupation of these regions and said, "HTS's attacks on Aleppo, Idlib and other Syrian cities intensified, especially with the invasion attacks of the Turkish state aiming to change the geographical structure of the Kurds in Syria. In this process, dozens of women, youth, children and elderly civilians were tortured, murdered, captured and kidnapped. These attacks were carried out by gang groups under the name of the so-called Syrian National Army (SMO), one of the ISIS gangs. Afrin was a Kurdish settlement for thousands of years, but was subjected to a major demographic change after the occupation of the Turkish state. The same applies to Girê Spî and Serêkaniyê. These demographic changes were carried out sometimes by gang groups and sometimes in co-operation with international aid organisations. As a result, hundreds of thousands of people were forcibly displaced. Houses and workplaces were looted and many citizens' homes were turned into military areas."   ‘Women are making history’   Roza Daxıstan stated that Turkey wants to implement Kurdishisation policies and genocide practices by taking advantage of the current situation in Syria and reminded that denial and extermination plans have been implemented in Northern Kurdistan throughout history. Stating that Turkey attacked Rojava with these policies against Kurds, Roza Daxıstan said that a strong resistance is continuing in Rojava against these attacks and added: "There is a women's resistance that continues to write history against the uninhibited attacks of the patriarchal mentality. Women are growing this resistance with their struggle and organisation. Under the leadership of women's defence units against the occupation attacks, they continue to resist against all attacks in every field."    ‘The people frustrate all attack attempts of the gangs’   Emphasising that the biggest danger of HTS and SMO gangs is that they have a misogynist perspective, Roza Daxistan said, "In the region, we are faced with the achievements of women who lead the society and take the front lines in the most severe processes. However, we are struggling with gang groups that ignore these gains and women's freedom. The region faces both gains and serious dangers. They are trying to spread fear by deliberately targeting people working under the autonomous administration. They aim to break the hope and will of the people by massacring people and using special warfare methods on social media. However, the sensitivity of the people frustrates these efforts. Although they create anxiety from time to time, the people manage to eliminate the attempts of the gangs."
