MKGP: We will continue to write with brave pen of Gurbetelli

	NEWS CENTER - Making a statement for the Kurdish Women Journalists Day, MKGP commemorated Turkey’s first female chief editor, Gurbetelli Ersöz, on the anniversary of her death, and sated: ‘’The heritage that Gurbetelli left on this difficult path enlighten the path of Kurdish women journalists, and makes the determination to struggle under all circumstances once again visible.’’ MKGP celebrated the journalist Kurdish women’s day.

	 

	The Mesopotamia Women Journalists Platform (MKGP) celebrated the Kurdish Women Journalists Day of their colleagues by commemorating Gurbetelli Ersöz, Turkey’s first female chief editor, on the anniversary of her death.

	 

	The statement of the Mesopotamia Women Journalists Platform titled ‘’Journalist Kurdish women continue to write with brave pen of Gurbetelli’’ is as follows:

	 

	‘’The day of the death of Gurbetelli Ersöz, the chief editor of the Özgür Gündem Newspaper, the pioneer in the development of the Kurdish women’s press, and the first female chief edtor in the history of the press of Turkey, was declared the ‘’Kurdish Women Journalists Day’’ in 2014. We are once again proud to carry this precious heritage on the day that has been celebrated as the Kurdish Women Journalists Day for eight years. The heritage that Gurbetelli left on this difficult path enlighten the path of Kurdish women journalists, and makes the determination to struggle under all circumstances once again visible. Gurbetelli’s struggle, who said, ‘I will make women beautiful by starting myself, is as much as fighting with men,’ also gives clues about the stage of women’s existence in the media from past to present.

	 

	Fueling on experiences from the past to the future, journalist women continue the tradition of free press with the agencies, television, radio, newspapers and journals to reveal the truth. The women, who do not leave Gurbetelli's pen on the ground, do not compromise from writing the truth against the masculine language of the media. We celebrate the day of our Kurdish female journalist colleagues who do not cower and pursue the truth despite the policies of oppression, detention, arrest, ignorance and destruction. We commemorate with gratitude and longing our journalist friends, especially Gurbetelli Ersöz, who sacrificed their lives for this cause without a moment’s hesitation.’’
