Action of relatives of disappeared continues on its 643rd week

	DİYARBAKIR - Relatives of the missing asked about the fate of Turgut Yenisoy, who disappeared 27 years ago, in the 643rd week of their actions.

	 

	The Diyarbakır Branch of the Human Rights Association (İHD) and the relatives of the disappeared carried out the 643rd of their weekly protest on the virtual media account with the slogan "Let the disappeared be found, let the perpetrators be tried". In the action that took place this week, the fate of Turgut Yenisoy, who disappeared on October 4, 1994, in Diyarbakır's Bismil district, was asked. Ezgi Sıla Demir, a member of the İHD Board, told the story of Turgut Yenisoy (25).

	 

	‘There were frequent military raids’

	 

	Ezgi said that Turgut Yenisoy, the father of six children, who makes a living from a grocery store in Bismil, was taken into custody because his grocery store was burned down in 1992 as a result of an attack by unidentified people, claiming that those who burned the shop were soldiers or police. Ezgi noted that Turgut was tortured while in custody and that after the incident, his house was frequently raided by soldiers, and he was subjected to the imposition of spying.

	 

	Ezgi described what happened next as follows:

	 

	"Turgut Yenisoy received death threats for refusing to impose spying. It is said that he was taken by specialist sergeants named Ahmet, Recep and Süleyman, who were in the Bismil Commando Regiment, who came to their house on October 4, 1994, around 10:30 pm, in a white Toros brand vehicle. It was stated that Turgut Yenisoy was not allowed to wear his clothes during detention and his mother Nazife Yenisoy was also battered by the soldiers at that time. Turgut Yenisoy, who is stated to be taken to the police station for his statement, is taken to the Bismil E-Type Prison, which is located near their home. Family members, who follow the direction of the vehicle in which Turgut Yenisoy is in, see that the vehicle standing in front of the prison then moves and goes in another direction.

	 

	Applied to many places, no results

	 

	Nazife Yenisoy applied to the Bismil Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on the morning of the incident. Afterwards, although she applied to the Bismil Police Department, Bismil Commando Brigade, Diyarbakır State Security Court (DGM) Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, and the State of Emergency Regional Governor, she received the answer ‘Your son is not in custody’.

	 

	They asked me to bribe

	 

	It was stated that Turgut Yenisoy was subjected to intense torture at the Diyarbakir Regiment Command." Ezgi followed with the words of Turgut’s older sister Şermin Uzalp; ‘Specialist sergeants named Ahmet and Recep were constantly offered spying. When my brother refused to accept this, they threatened him with death. They were not allowing my brother to leave Bismil. They even asked him to go to the police station every night after leaving the workplace to sign it. Specialized sergeants, especially Recep and Ahmet, frequently threatened, beat, and detained Turgut. Finally, they burned down his shop. A sergeant working at the Bismil Regiment Command told me that my brother was killed under torture. I wanted proof of that, but they wanted bribes from me that I could not handle.’

	 

	Ezgi reminded that they have been holding protests in front of the Koşuyolu Park Right to Life Monument every week since March 31, 2009, and she said: "Sit-in actions have been banned since September 1, 2018, by the decision taken by the Diyarbakır Governor's Office."
